043: Living a Fulfilling Life on the Road + How to Create Passive Income Through Lead Generation with Spencer and Kristi Stevens and Luke Van Der Veer

In this episode of Saving With Steve, host Steve Sexton is joined by Spencer and Kristi Stevens of the Adventurtunity Family, who are currently on a quest to seek adventure and embrace opportunities while they travel the USA in their RV, and Luke Van Der Veer, an entrepreneur and the founder of Website Rental Coaching, who has spent the last five years teaching 9–5’ers how to quit their jobs by working online, part-time.

Have you ever thought about selling everything, buying a motorhome, packing up the family, and seeing the world? My first guests, Spencer and Kristi Stevens did just that along with their son Kade. They join me to talk about their decision to sell their home and most of their belongings, what it’s like on the road, the cost of living, and places they’ve experienced. If you are dreaming of minimizing your life and going on the road, or considering the motorhome life after you retire, you don’t want to miss this interview!

The reality is Covid has pushed many people to re think their work prospects. People are looking to find a way to take back control over their lives. My first second guest, Luke Van Der Veer, teaches people how to build a passive income by generating leads for local businesses, and helps people leave the corporate world. He joins us today to discuss the Rank & Rent business model, building a side hustle while working full-time, transitioning from the corporate world to self-employment, and how to be successful without being good at sales.

After living his entire life outside of Baltimore, Maryland, Spencer Stevens was bitten hard by the travel bug. This new-found desire to see the USA led him, his wife Kristi, and son Kade, to make some big changes. They were hungry for change and more family time.

In July of 2020, after selling their house and most of their belongings, Spencer and Kristi purchased a 37-foot Vacationer motorhome from Holiday Rambler and decided to see the country.

Working from the road as marketing consultants, they also document their travels on social media as the Adventurtunity Family, where they encourage others to prioritize family by seeking adventure and embracing opportunity.

Kristi and Spencer believe that when you live with intention, wonderful things happen. It’s never too late to prioritize what’s really important to you and go after it with everything you have!

For them, it’s their family. As they embark on their biggest adventure of traveling the country in their home on wheels, the great outdoors will now be their home, office, and Kade’s classroom too!

Luke Van Der Veer teaches people how to build a passive income by generating leads for local businesses, and he’s helping people leave the corporate world. His business, Website Rental Coaching, offers group coaching to students worldwide who are ready to leave corporate life and take back control of their time.

Van Der Veer has an MBA from the State University of New York in Albany. After graduation, he started working for General Electric, but he hated the idea of having to work 9-5 until 65 years old in the hope of saving enough money to retire. He felt like people should be able to enjoy themselves while they are young. So, he started looking for an alternative.

While looking for a way to make passive income online, Van Der Veer tried affiliate marketing, MLM, and selling on eBay and Amazon. But none of those business models offered both time and money; it was always one or the other. Eventually, he stumbled across Rank and Rent lead generation and began helping businesses generate leads.

The Rank and Rent model leverages Google’s search volume and the traffic that Google gets from people looking to find local businesses. Following this model, lead generators find a profitable niche, build a small website to generate leads, and then send those leads to local businesses to follow up on. Businesses are charged a monthly fee for lead generation. The website will continue to generate leads, especially if the website is ranked on the first page of Google, creating a passive income for the lead generator.

Van Der Veer now makes in a month what he was making in a year working at General Electric and has escaped from the corporate world.  He was able to quit his full-time job after six months, and he finally has the time and money to enjoy his life. He works on his own schedule and can work from anywhere in the world with just a laptop.

Van Der Veer says, “Many people have the desire and drive needed to escape the corporate world. They just know how to do it. Website Rental Coaching offers a proven, step-by-step business model that countless 9-5 employees have used to create a true passive income and replace their full-time salaries by generating leads for local businesses.” He adds, “If you’re not happy with where you are right now, you have to be the one to change it.”

Van Der Veer began offering individual coaching for passive income lead generation in 2019 and switched to group coaching in 2020. He coaches students from around the world to begin this lucrative business, finally quit their jobs, take back their freedom, and spend more time with family and friends.
