253: Closing the Retirement Gap: Long-Term Care Planning in the Age of AI with Lily Vittayarukskul

In this episode of Saving With Steve, host Steve Sexton is joined by Lily Vittayarukskul, CEO and Co-Founder of Waterlily, a company that uses AI to make long-term care planning more sustainable and affordable for caregivers and aging loved ones.

Today's guest, Lily, discusses closing the retirement gap and the future of long-term care planning in the age of AI. She shares how technology, data, and smarter planning can transform how families prepare for aging, long-term care, and retirement security, why preparedness matters, and how innovation can make a difference.

Lily Vittayarukskul began college at 14 and was interning at NASA by 16 before her life took a dramatic turn when her aunt — who raised her — was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer.

Experiencing the financial and emotional devastation firsthand shifted Lily’s path from aerospace to healthcare innovation.

She went on to graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in Genetics and Data Science, led product and engineering at multiple startups, and patented computer vision algorithms for fall detection before founding Waterlily.

Today, she is dedicated to creating solutions that empower families to better prepare for healthcare and long-term care challenges.

Waterlily's mission is to empower individuals and families to navigate life’s most challenging moments with confidence and clarity by creating innovative solutions that transform the way people approach their health and wealth, driven by compassion and cutting-edge technology.
